Florence, Italy

Enter into the Renaissance. Today was a whirlwind of activity. First we went to the Academia to see Michaelangelos David. Wow! He must be seen in person to be truly appreciated. We met our Florence tour guide after that. She was great. I really liked Ghibertis bronze doors. Immense detail. Last, but definitely not least, was the Uffizi Gallery. So many famous works by Botticelli, Leonardo Da Vinci, Lippi and many others. One painting really touched my heart, Fra Filippo Lippis , "Madonna and Child with two Angels". One of the angels is smiling and it gives a human feel to this religious work of art . The "Birth of Venus" by Botticelli was amazing to see for real too. I felt so lucky to be able to see all these phenomenal works of art.

It almost seems unreal that little Dawnya Marie was here seeing these masterpieces. I had a fun walk back to the bus with Scott. I was moving pretty fast and he kept up with me. When we got to the bus he got a beer and finished it in two drinks! Scott, the silent, yet thirsty type. The Belgian beer that Ronnie stocked the bus with went down nice and smooth.

It was nice to come back to our Villa and relax by the pool after our busy day in Florence. Tomorrow, we will conquer Rome, with our cameras!
